Administration

Peggy Sharp, Principal

Who am I? Raised on a dairy farm in the shadow of the Olympic Mountains in Washington State, I attended Western Washington University but instead of majoring in cows I choose elementary education. Later, I also attended Idaho State University and received both a Masters in Curriculum and an Administration Endorsement. Whether student, teacher or principal, I have spent many years in the classroom. Over the past 20 years you could have found me teaching kindergarten at Holy Rosary or more recently at Osgood Elementary. There you would have found me teaching "inventing" to second graders or properties of mixtures and solutions to sixth graders as both their teacher and principal. My love for science compelled me to apply for and be awarded the Krista McAuliffe fellowship. For a year, I stepped out of the classroom to create a space shuttle on wheels. When Osgood closed I had to say good bye to a dear old friend, but as that door closed a new door opened at White Pine.

White Pine Charter School's students, parents and staff have renewed my energy for creating an exemplary educational setting. My focus is to help establish an environment that has a rigorous curriculum, while recognizing the uniqueness of each child. Our charter's mission states that the school is here to assist parents in their efforts to educate their children. I think this ideal allows us to work together as a team, providing opportunities for parents to share their voice, not only for their own child's education, but also to contribute substantially to the operation and the future of White Pine Charter School.
