All About Academics
At White Pine it is "All About Academics" and we will continue to focus more and more on what it takes to be academically successful. Come back often for updated messages on this important topic. To begin with, here is a list of some of the priorities we will be focusing on:
- ATTENDANCE & PUNCTUALITY - what can we say, you have to be here to learn and that is where it begins. School start PROMPTLY at 8:25AM!
- PREPARATION - okay, so you are here, did you get a good nights rest? Did you bring your homework? Do you have all your resources and materials? Any successful person will tell you that it's all in the preparation.
- BEHAVIOR - the only way to learn is to PAY ATTENTION; so when at school, give your teacher your undivided attention, take good notes, write down reminders in your agenda and take charge of your learning!
- EFFORT - the most important thing to your teacher is the effort you put into your work.
- HOMEWORK - extending your student's learning is vital, yet our homework completion rate is POOR - this needs to change for our students to be successful. Families - log into PowerSchools or have an automated report (see below) sent to stay on top of things.
- STUDY HABITS - have a consistent time and quiet place where you not only do your homework but study.
- HIGH EXPECTATIONS - finally, this has been one of the most importance principles in education, and that is we ALL RISE TO WHAT IS EXPECTED. Expect a lot from yourself or your student and don't settle for less.
A great way to help is to stay on top of your child's progress. Log into PowerSchools often to check your student's progress, but even better - set up an automated report and have updates sent to whatever email account you specify:
