Dr. Harris

Born in Tennessee, raised in Oklahoma, translocated to Utah, and transplanted into Idaho, I arrive to White Pine Charter School with much energy and excitement for the privilege to serve the best students in the world. I graduated from Utah State University with a BA in Elementary Education and emphases in both math and Spanish. The University of Utah is where I completed all of the graduate work for my M.Ed., M.P.A., and Ph.D. degrees. I have worked in nearly every perspective of the education process and these unique opportunities afford me a vision of education much broader and deeper than I ever would have thought to attain. Always having taught sixth grade, the chance to teach middle school here is a ‘dream’. I have always wanted to teach this age level, but never had the opportunity to do so, except for student teaching—which seems half a millennium ago.

I enjoy challenges inherent to constructing the nexus of reality, school, and students. Constantly seeking to improve my ability to convey the curriculum and my own skills and knowledge, I love to learn. Making my passion for learning contagious, drives me forward.

If you ask my Better-Half how many children we have, she may answer, “Five.” We only have four—boy, girl, boy, girl, from age 15 to “almost 8.”

My goal this year is simply to improve the reading and writing of our middle school students. I encourage parents to contact me to help accomplish this by volunteering in my classroom.
