Middle School Math

I started my love and appreciation of math in college.  To be honest, I didn’t have a love, or even a like, of math in junior high or high school.  Academically, I always did okay in math, but didn’t try to accel.  During my time in college, I started to enjoy the math field a little more every day.  It seems weird, I know, but I am fascinated with math and the awe of how everything in this world has an association to math.

I attended part of my elementary years, in Idaho Falls, at Hawthorne Elementary.  In 5th grade, my family moved to San Diego, and stayed there until high school.  We moved back to Idaho Falls when I was in high school and I graduated from Idaho Falls High School….no, I am not disclosing the year.  After high school, I took a college class every once in awhile, but eventually attended full time at Idaho State University.  During my college years, I loved every class I took and even though I knew math was what I wanted my major degree in, I changed my minor many times, going between computer programming, Spanish, and others.  Eventually, I graduated from Idaho State University with a BA in Elementary Education with a math emphasis.

I have been the middle school math teacher at White Pine since 2009.  I really do have a love of our school and truly believe in what our school is about.  White Pine kids are amazing and they are the reason why I love what I do.  Quite often, I do take on new tasks at school.  I do this, in part, to keep learning, but mostly I do it to support the needs of our middle school.
