Connie Day,2nd Grade
Mrs. Day has been teaching at WPCS since 2010. She loves to help students get excited about learning. Her #1 class rule is, “Don’t be good” (because “good” isn’t a high enough goal). Mrs. Day wants her students to be “great” and they work hard to meet her expectations.
Mrs. Day became a teacher twelve years ago when her daughter started first grade. This is a second career that she chose to pursue because she believes that a good education is vital for each child. The Core Knowledge curriculum at White Pine is what drew her to this school. The underlying philosophy of Core Knowledge is that every child deserves a high quality education. As someone who struggled to learn to read and hated doing math when she was a child, Mrs. Day understands how much encouragement and help students need to be successful.
When she is not at school, Mrs. Day can often be found in the woods with a camera. Wildlife photography is one of her hobbies. She is a “Cube Master” and enjoys teaching children how to solve a Rubik’s Cube. She is also on a personal quest this year to become healthier through good nutrition and exercise.
