Gayle Black,5th Grade
My name is Gayle Black. I am a founding member of White Pine, and have been active in it since before the charter was even signed! As a parent, I chose this school because of the rigorous curriculum and small school “community” atmosphere. When the school first started, another parent and I started the WPCS library. In addition to working in the library, I also substitute taught and worked as an aide for Special Ed and Title. I had always wanted to teach and so, after my kids were a little older, I finished my teacher certification. I have a degree in English as well.
Over my 8 years of teaching, I have taught in several different grades, including Middle School, Kindergarten and 3rd grade. I am happiest where I am now, though, teaching 5th graders! I love getting into deep discussions about the subjects we are learning, and enjoy helping kids learn.
I am married, and have two sons, both successful graduates of White Pine! They are currently attending college at Montana State University, and one will be graduating December 2017. I have two cats and two dogs. For fun I like to hike, camp, and shop!
